Best & Fun Golf Courses in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge TN Area

There are ten professional golf courses in the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge area, all with their own challenges and difficulties. Because winters can be very cold in the Great Smoky Mountains, the best time to play golf would be spring and fall. However, summers in the area are cool in the mornings and late afternoon, so it is not impossible to play golf during the summer months.

In addition to professional golf courses, there are also many miniature golf courses in the area. These are great for beginners as it allows them to learn the rules of the game, including how to aim their club, what par means and how to score the game.

It is important to remember that the Great Smoky Mountains area is bear country. It is not unusual to encounter a bear on the course. If you should encounter a bear, do not approach them. Slowly back away, making loud noises to encourage the bear to run. Bears are most active in the early morning and late evening during the warmer months.

Golf Course Rates in the Great Smoky Mountains Area

The prices for in the Great Smoky Mountains vary depending on the course you choose. The least expensive course is Creekside Golf Course whose rates are $23 walking during the week or $35 to $40 on weekends. Golf carts are required on the weekend. The most expensive is Gatlinburg Golf Course with rates of $65 May through November. Their twilight golf during that time is $45. December through April, rates are $50, and twilight is $45.

Sevierville Golf Club is a member only golf course. Memberships range from $2,000 for individuals to $6,000 for corporate memberships. Guests of members can play for $69.

Golf Course Discounts and Information

The best way to get discounts on golf in the Great Smoky Mountains is to book a package. Golf packages range from $200 to $600. Some include several days of golf while others also include a room at one of the golf resorts in the area.

Golf Course Dress Codes and Other Rules in the Great Smoky Mountain Area

Some golf clubs have rules regarding attire, ages of players, shoes and more. Those that have strict rules include:

Island Pointe Golf Club
Island Pointe Golf Club does require proper golf attire, including collared shirts and shorts that are Bermuda length. Tank tops, t-shirts and denim are not permitted. Rental clubs are available for $35 per 18 holes. One set of clubs per player is required.

Gatlinburg Golf Course
Gatlinburg Golf Course does not allow outside food or beverages and only two people may be in a cart at one time. All cart drivers must be 16 or older and hold a driver’s license. Children under six are not permitted on the course and there is a $10 non-player rider fee. Only soft spikes are permitted, and the pace of play is a maximum of 15 minutes per hole. Each player must have their own set of clubs and no more than four people in each group.

Sevierville Golf Club
Proper golf attire is required at Sevierville Golf Club. Shirts must have a collar and be hemmed while denim is permitted on the links. On the driving range, shirts must have sleeves although t-shirts and denim are both permitted. The Pro Shop does offer appropriate golf attire should you need to purchase clothing for your visit.
