It is very quiet in the Great Smoky Mountains and there is very little artificial light. This means the stars seem exceptionally bright. The Newfound Gap Trailhead is a great place to stargaze without even leaving the parking lot. Simply head to one of the far corners with your lawn chairs, sit back and watch the night sky light up before you.
