Because there are no street lamps on the Newfound Gap Trailhead, it is one of the best places to find a secluded spot and gaze at the stars. The parking lot on this trail is about 6,000 miles high and you can simply grab a lawn chair, head to the furthest end of the parking lot and sit back to watch the skies light up above you. If you are there during a full moon, the sky will be even more intense and beautiful. The lack of light around you will also make it easier for you to photograph the sky and capture some of the best pictures you have ever taken.
