Independence Day July 4th in Gatlinburg begins with a parade, the first city to hold such a parade in the nation. The parade stretches for more than a mile and spectators are encouraged to arrive early to get a good viewing location. The streets of Gatlinburg are filled with Appalachian music as well as activities for the entire family throughout the day. The celebration culminates at dusk with 20-minute fireworks display in the heart of downtown.
